About the Artist

Mary has been painting in the Portland area for over 20 years. She mainly paints landscapes, cityscapes and portraits. The contrast of light and dark and reflective light are common in Mary’s work. Sunsets and dramatic skies show landscape and scenery in the way that she likes to paint them. She first knew she wanted to be a painter as a teen when she visited a Monet exhibition at the national gallery.  She really loves Impressionism and Expressionism In art and is inspired by other artists including her art mentor Glen Larsen. Other themes and inspirations in Mary’s work comes from the people in her life and the beauty of the natural world.
